Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a Branch of RBS in Craigentinny. The incident happened around 4.45pm on Monday evening when an armed man entered the branch and demanded money from the cashier. He fled the store with a substantial quantity of cash and made off on foot into Restalrig Avenue. A security device was activated and this may have caused the cash, and the mans clothing, to be contaminated with red dye. Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward. The suspect is described as white, medium or slim build, around 6ft 3in height, aged around 25 years old, clean shaven, wearing a blue baseball cap, light grey coloured body warmer with hood attached, dark baggy trousers, dark footwear and black gloves. Detective Inspector Alan OBrien said: This robbery was a traumatic experience for the staff working in the branch, although thankfully no one was hurt. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this robbery, or recognises the description of the suspect, to contact police immediately. The suspect and the money are likely to have been contaminated with red dye, so if anyone who comes across anything suspicious, they should also contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
