Police in Fife investigating the disappearance of Carol-Anne - TopicsExpress

Police in Fife investigating the disappearance of Carol-Anne Taggart from Dunfermline last month have recovered her body. Officers had been conducting various enquiries to trace Carol-Anne since she was reported missing on the 22nd December. On Wednesday 7th January a detailed search of her home in Hill of St Margaret was undertaken followed by a subsequent search of the Pettycur Caravan Park in Kinghorn on Monday 12th January, where she owned a unit. As a result of this activity Carol-Annes body was found on the site and subsequently recovered late on Monday evening. A post mortem was carried out on Tuesday where the 54-year-old was positively identified. Officers are treating her death as murder and a 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with this investigation. He is due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court today. Detective Chief Inspector Keith Hardie said: Throughout this enquiry we had always hoped to trace Carol-Anne and return her home safe and well. However, following the discovery of her body we believe her death to be suspicious and a man is currently in police custody. I would like to thank the public for their assistance and support during our investigation and would urge anyone who believes they may still have information, but has yet to contact police, to do so immediately. Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
