Police investigating a break and enter at a jewellery store in Singleton have arrested and charged a man with drug and firearm offences. Detectives attached to the Hunter Valley Local Area Command have been investigating a break and enter upon a jewellery store on Gowrie Street, Singleton on Friday 4 April 2014. During the break-in a large amount of jewellery was stolen while the premises also sustained extensive damage. About 12pm yesterday (Wednesday 9 April 2014), police attended a house in Edgeworth after receiving information about a man allegedly attempting to sell items of jewellery online. During a search of the premises police allegedly located two sawn-off shotguns, ammunition, a balaclava, gloves, a stolen watch and amounts of methylamphetamine (ice) and cannabis. A 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with receive/dispose stolen property, goods in custody, possess shortened firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition and possess prohibited drug, He was refused bail to appear in Toronto Local Court today (Thursday 10 April 2014). Investigations into the break and enters are continuing.
