Police officers suspected of maltreating some young men *Televizaun Timor-Leste, July 31, 2013 language source: Tetun A group of young people yesterday appeared at the House of the Parliament, reporting that, they were maltreated by the National Police (PNTL) “task force” officers in Comoro, a suburb of the capital of Dili. Representative of the young men said they were dissatisfied with the police’s action as they had maltreated their friends. Meanwhile MP Cesario de Jesus said the Parliament was not a court, but it would try to mediate, so that the police could be more professional in responding to any problems in the future. Dili District Police Commander, Pedro Belo recognized that, there was problem between the police and the young men and said it happened because they [the young men] stoned at the police when they were responding to situation.
