Police officers this morning removed illegal obstacles in Mong Kok and will not tolerate further blockage of reopened roads. Speaking at a press conference, Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Steve Hui said officers noticed there were calls on the Internet to reclaim Mong Kok with force. He said Police will take resolute action should any acts of violence arise. He condemned flash mob protesters who suddenly dash onto roads, adding that such reckless acts pose a serious safety threat. Up to this morning, 38 officers have been injured in various confrontations arising from the illegal occupation of roads. Mr Hui said the difficulty and complexity of the Police operation in recent weeks is unprecedented, yet officers have remained professional, restrained and committed. Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Steve Hui: I also note that there are people advocating on the internet to get back Mong Kok with the use of violence tonight. I hope the radical protesters can understand, Police operation to remove obstacles serves to reduce the impacts of illegal occupation on traffic and the public daily life. Police have the duty to protect the public’s right to use the roads. I emphasise that Police will not tolerate further blockage of the reopened roads by the radical protesters. Should there be any acts of violence, Police will take resolute actions. I appeal to other protesters illegally occupying roads in other districts to stop occupying the roads. Your illegal acts had already seriously affected the road traffic and normal life of the general public. I hope you can all leave as soon as possible so that public order can be restored and the public will no longer be perturbed by the road blockage. https://youtube/watch?v=-v7RfTdyYoQ
