Police release Black 505 protesters in stages PETALING JAYA: All the Black 505 protesters have been freed by the police from the Jinjang detention centre. City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the 32 protesters, including three women, were released in stages, with the last detainee released at about 2am yesterday. He added that the protesters, including student activist Adam Adli and Rembau PKR chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, popularly known as Chegubard, were released on police bail. “We had to take action on the protesters after they tried to enter the Parliament compound. Some even tried to breach the police barricade outside the complex. “We view the matter very seriously as some policemen on duty sustained injuries during the scuffle that ensued,” he said yesterday. He said the police would complete their investigations soon before forwarding the investigation papers to the Attorney-General (AG) Chambers for further action. “The gathering was deemed illegal as there was no notice given to the police 10 days prior to the event.” On Monday, 32 protesters were detained by the police after they marched to Parliament House to hand over a memorandum to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on alleged electoral irregularities. Scuffles erupted after the protesters tried to enter the Parliament compound, which was tightly guarded by policemen during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected MPs. The group had earlier tried to breach the police barricade outside the complex, resulting in a few officers sustaining injuries. A police personnel was injured in the left eye and nose while another lost a front tooth and sprained his index finger. Other police personnel sustained light injuries.
