Police seek publics help in solving Saturday home invasion MATTOON (JG-TC) -- The Mattoon Police Department and Coles County Crimestoppers request public assistance in solving a home invasion and armed robbery that occurred about 6 a.m. Saturday, according to a press release. Two white males entered a Mattoon home in the 200 block of South 30th Street and detained a family therein. The family was robbed at gunpoint and money was taken, police stated. The suspects are described as follows: one white male, approximately 6 feet tall, 150-175 pounds, with a large nose, in his late teens or early 20s. This suspect was wearing blue jeans, a dark coat or hooded sweatshirt, brown boots and gloves. The second suspect is described as a white male approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, estimated 130-150 pounds, possibly a teenager. One suspect had shorter, light brown hair with a bit of a wave to it. A bald spot was starting on top of his head, police stated Anyone with information in regard to the crime is asked to contact the Mattoon Police Department by phone at 235-5451, or messaging via Facebook. People also may contact Coles County Crimestoppers toll free at 1-866- 345-8488, or text “crimeleads” to 274637. Callers may remain anonymous and will qualify for cash rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for crimes.
