Police standoffs are becoming fairly common place across the United States. I can’t really recall many such situations being routinely reported from overseas. Certainly, this does not mean they do not occur. Then again, perhaps they are dealt with swiftly and efficiently, without ‘kid gloves’ and much ado. The typical US response to these all too familiar ‘events’ is pretty much standard nationwide…wait the guy out or talk to him until he tires of the rhetoric and can’t stand it any more all while dispatching 80% of the municipalities resources to the scene…AKA: OVERKILL! Total waste of time, effort, tax dollars all the while shortchanging the rest of the community of these resources. A quick knee capping, tear gassing or fast acting tranquilizer will affect a speedy resolution.
