Police stolen Property Drama Drama has ensued between police officers in Nanyuki police station and a family in Likii slums over property that was confiscated by the police in the their house on allegations it was stolen only for the family to produce receipts. The police are said to have stormed the house of Jesse Kinyua last night and ordered her wife to open without a search warrant and when she refused they blocked both doors using wooden block. The wife Peris Wairimu said that the officers wanted to gain entry into his house and even threatened to burn it if she did not open. The row emerged following a case where police officers stormed the family’s house two months ago and took assorted electronics, sewing machines bicycles, water pump among other things on allegation that they were stolen. The police paraded the items to the public for identification but no one claimed anything from the list something that went to the courts. However in the case which is ongoing the family has produced all relevant receipts and the police have started panicking hence the threats. Kinyua claimed that the police were demanding for a 20,000 shillings bribe so that they can release the property to him as some of the items were left at the police station instead of being presented to the court. He said that at the time of yesterday’s incident he was not at home as he works in Karatina and he fears that his wife might be in danger. He noted that the wife was made a hostage in her own house since she could not move out. When contacted, Laikipia East Ocpd Kegode Kidiavai noted that no one had ordered the raid and questioned the motive of the incident. He noted that the matter would be investigated ends
