Police warn public of bank accounts new scam The police are warning about a new scam via sms in which crooks try to get the account details of unsuspecting members of the public. It says people have been receiving an sms which leads them to believe is from their bank stating that there is a problem with their account. A so called consultant asks the phone owner what type of phone they are using as well as obtaining their details and bank account numbers. They then ask the bank for a SIM Swipe and One Time Pins which gives them access to the account. The police say by the time the phone owner realizes that his or her phone is not working the criminals have already withdrawn money from the accounts.
