Policeman Flees Over Fear Of Ebola Yesterday The fear of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country has caused many Nigerians to take extra measures to avoid contracting the disease. This is the case of a policeman who caused quite a scene over the weekend. According to Leadership, the Policemen who reportedly caused panic around Umunede new Road junction on the popular Asaba-Benin Expressway was said to have stopped a motorists at an illegeal road block. RELATED: Ebola Virus: How Patience Jonathan, Governors Now Greet Each Other The Policeman who is believed to hail from the Northern part of the country was said to have ran for his dare life, shouting for help after he mistook the driver of the private car’s name ‘Eboka’ for the deadly virus Ebola. Passerby who saw him running at the state of confusion also took to their heels, while those trapped in their vehicles that could not immediately run for their dare lives watched hopelessly for the worst to come. It was gathered that the mobile policeman had demanded to check the particularly of a privately owned car and shouted at the owner of the car to bring his particulars, according to Leadership. With the threatening look on the face of the policeman and the gun he was clutching, the car owner was said to have told him Eboka, causing him to take off at a frightening speed and shouting. Soon, other vehicles behind and his colleagues were also said to have run away as well, until they were told that the man’s name was Eboka, not Ebola. The Policeman who was later told that Eboka (which means family is supreme in Ika language) had nothing to do with the deadly virus, Ebola returned to his duty. Nigerians have reportedly been very careful of getting infected with the Ebola Virus Disease. It was reported today that a woman for fear of contracting the Ebola virus smashed a man’s head for hugging her. Meanwhile the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday announced that Ebola virus killed 84 people in three days, bringing the current global death toll to 1,229.
