Policemans INSAS rifle goes missing A service rifle of a policeman was reportedly missing in South Kashmirs Pulwama district and the police here said a departmental inquiry would probe the incident. Offici al sources said police guards posted at Awantipur shrine in the district reported to their seniors that a service rifle had gone missing since July 18.They said policeman Fayaz Ahmad of 71 IR 2nd battalion had kept the INSAS service rifle in the guard room adjacent to the shrine of Syed Hassan Mantaki and went for offering prayers. “After the policeman returnedfrom prayers, he could not find the rifle inside the room, the added.Sources said that police launched massive searches to trace the missing rifle since the incident but failed to recover the same. “Police authorities have also suspended the several policemeninclud ing Fayaz Ahmad in this connection “.Meanwhile, police have registered a case and departmental inquiry has also been initiated. The facts of the incidentwould be revealed during the course ofinvestigation s, a senior police officer said.
