Political Risk Analyst red24 - Cape Town, Western Cape To research and analyse safety and security related developments across the world and to determine the risk, and forecast future risk, of threats such as terrorism, crime and political instability To keep up to date with global current affairs and to develop a working knowledge of a particular region Update the country pages on the red24 website with relevant information (including risk ratings, travel advisories, political status, terrorism threats, civil unrest, health issues, embassy details, etc.) Write safety and security reports as and when they are requested by clients Write in-depth commentaries on various security related issues and topics To monitor global and regional developments and timeously send out red24 Alerts, which are sms and email notifications of significant safety, security and travel-related incidents To compile content for the various newsletters Support other departments in the delivery of red24s various products and services Company Description red24 is a crisis management assistance company delivering a range of products and services to businesses, organisations and individuals around the world. Requirements Qualified to degree level - particularly in politics, conflict studies or another relevant field Must have strong computer skills and be well versed in internet usage The candidate must either be a South African citizen or be eligible to work in the country Must be able to do shift work (including weekends and nights) Personal Skills/Attributes Preferably has something to enhance the analyst team; i.e. well-travelled, has a specific knowledge or interest in a region of the world, speaks a foreign language or has some security knowledge, etc. (these factors are not a pre-requisite but a benefit) At least one year’s experience of working in a similar or related field (not a pre-requisite but beneficial) Analytical – has the ability to logically relate and compare data from different sources, quickly identify issues, secure relevant information and draw conclusions Has a strong interest in international affairs.
