Political experts see Foxs chances diminish: from Scott Lays THE NOONER - political analysis of California politics on AD 36. Tom Lackeys entry immediately moved this to Lean Republican and may very well move to Likely Republican declaring Fox the most vulnerable incumbent in 2014. Quote below: From THE NOONER: In the Antelope Valleys AD36, Palmdale councilmember Tom Lackey (R) is joining the race, where we find the most vulnerable incumbent in 2014. Lackey fell 365 votes short of coming in the top two in 2012, advancing Democrat Steve Fox and Republican Ron Smith to the November election. Smith spent most of his money and energy in the primary and little in the runoff, where he was eclipsed by Fox by 145 votes. Smith recently had neck surgery following an automobile crash and is not expected to run this time. • Steve Fox (D): 14,160 • Tom Lackey (R): 13,795 • Ron Smith (R): 15,097 If you think about those numbers that nearly led to one of the club of seven all-Republican top-twos and the fact that 2014 is a lower-turnout off-cycle, you can understand why I have moved the race to Leans Republican. However, depending on fundraising and the Democratic Partys commitment to saving this seat, in may very well move to Likely Republican.
