Political exploitation in Africa! From Cameroon to Kenya and Uganda to Rwanda………. The fight against terrorism is a new political investment for several African heads that have successfully used it as a tool to strengthen their own legitimacy. The fight against Boko Haram in Naigeria, Al Shabaab in Kenya, Joseph Kony in Uganda and different faction in Congo has given African leaders new breath in finding terrorism a breeding grounds to hold onto power. In the name of fighting terrorism they proliferate corruption, impunity and knock down oppositions. We should redefine democracy in Africa. Africa doesn’t need strong men, but instead we need solid and robust institutions. in the name of the fight against Boko Haram, Nigeria and Chad regimes have arrested and harassed reporters and civil society leaders who are openly critical of the government. Some politicians emerged stronger in Kenya after Westgate shopping mall attack in September. Though terrorism represents a threat to sub-Saharan states, democratic requirements should not be sacrificed in the name of the fight against terror. Who will save Africa…oh…my: Dark Continent!!!!!
