Political / historic movies today are written by people with political agendas. 99-percent of the time they are false. Historians are taking issue with the movie Selma that the movie is not truthful in depicting LBJ (played by Tom Wilkinson) fighting MLK on staging protests in Selma over voting rights. Not only is it not true it is blatantly false. What concerns me as well as historians is that this piece of trash has won praise from critics and quickly become a serious contender for an Academy Award nomination. Our young people watch these falsehoods, which years later are being shown in school as fact when it is the opposite of fact. America now has an entire generation of kids whose heads have been stuffed full of this false political mush. They believe it. It must be true, it won an academy award didnt it? Therein lies the problem with handing out awards to falsehoods of this sort. SELMA IS FICTION. Selma ignores history, particularly for suggesting that Johnson set the FBI to investigate King. MLK did not become the focus of FBI investigations under FBIs Cointelpro. Credible journalists need to shun movies of this sort and urge the public to boycott them as it paints a false picture of our history. Lord knows we have enough falsehoods in our public schools and Washington today as it is. thewrap/selma-controversy-grows-over-lbj-clash-with-martin-luther-king-on-civil-rights/
