Politicizing the exalted position of Emir of Kano will ridicule - TopicsExpress

Politicizing the exalted position of Emir of Kano will ridicule the Emirate and the quest to empower traditional rulers constitutionally. The choice of the Emir should be taken out of the PDP vs APC struggle. I do not think that we should see the emergence of SLS as Emir of Kano as an APC victory. He is not the Emir of APC as some are trying to create such impression. He should not be portrayed as an Emir against President Jonathan if we truly desire good for Nigeria. If the struggle is allowed to prevail, what if the PDP Federal Government may resort to weakening the role of traditional rulers nationwide? We should not ignore the fact that in the past, the Federal Military Government dethroned the Sultan and nothing happened. Let us not politicize the selection of Emir of Kano as the days after the last days shall be governed by True Kings and Queens of the Kingdom of God, where elective democracy may give way. The original ideal of governance was kingship and eventually humankind will return to true kingship again. Democracy is a government of brothers and sisters, who act like orphans and select one of them to play parental role. On the other hand, true kingship is a more vertical and parental government that naturally emerges without controversies as children know who their parents are. This world will not remain in the realm of brotherhood/sisterhood forever. We need to grow to parenthood. It will be great for our nation if the choice of Emir of Kano is not reported as a political victory of a party over another and it will be greater if our politicians do not turn the Emir of Kano to a political Emir. Let us not ignore the fact that the office of Emir of Nigeria is still vacant and can be created to serve as the Emir of Emirs in Nigeria. Let us congratulate and support whoever has emerged and let the winner open his heart to focus on his calling to lead the people than leaving his proper position to focus on national leadership of Nigeria
