Politico: National Taxpayer Advocate Nina Olson leads an independent office within the IRS that acts as an ombudsman for taxpayers struggling to resolve problems with the agency. But as it turns out, not a single American nor IRS official filed a systematic-abuse complaint charging the IRS of political targeting, Olson’s office tells POLITICO. Even more surprising: Only four of several hundred conservative groups getting a headache from the IRS’s heightened oversight sought help from the office. Lawmakers might, therefore, look at giving the office a higher platform so taxpayers know they have an advocate.
