Politico wrote a story about friends of Speaker Boehner considering the use of intimidation and threats of committee assignments to retaliate if any GOPer doesnt vote for the person the Conference puts forward. This is a quote I gave to a reporter who asked me about the story: Intimidation tactics and threats do not take the place of leadership (verb - not noun or adjective). True conservative Members of Congress - those who believe in limited government, free markets, individual liberties, less spending and fiscal responsibility think that we should govern based on the vision of America - as would / should be reflected in our legislation - versus just talking about it in speeches or when campaigning. I get the challenges of governing in a divided government. But during reorganization of any legislative body, races for positions in leadership are elections - with every Member of Congress having a vote. Those votes have to be earned in the same way Congressmen have to earn the votes of their constituents. So, dont make threats of committee assignments or removals - but rather convince me of how you will lead going forward, especially in the pivotal times of the last two years of an Obama Administration when we need clear action-hopefully with a GOP controlled Senate assisting - which show the dichotomy of Conservative governance versus Progressive governance.
