Politics makes for strange bed fellows’ Kashmir’s dance on Modi tune Srinagar, Dec 8, CNS: Over 15,000 people including both Kashmiri’s and non-Kashmiri’s attended Narendra Modi’s rally in Cricket Stadium on Monday in Srinagar city. Hundreds of supporters had come from outside Kashmir to attend the rally. A BJP leader told CNS that every BJP candidate contributed to crowd. “All the candidates were instructed to ferry crowd in the vehicles while the party bore all the expenses in this regard,” he said. Party insiders said that maximum vehicles to ferry crowd were arranged by party candidate for Devsar Constituency Fayaz Ahmed Bhat who also runs a private NGO. “Around 300 vehicles came from Devsar, followed by Shopian (200), Home Shali Bugh (150), Langete (150), Kupwara (110), Handwara (95), Noorabad, Uri and Sangrama (30 each) while 10 vehicles from restive Sopore town also ferried crowed for Modi’s rally. Reports said that several trainloads of supporters were brought from Banihal, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba, Reasi, and other parts of Jammu Division to attend Modi’s rally. Supporters of BJP from outside state were also present in the rally. An ardent supporter from Indore told CNS that he covered long distance to reach here just to listen to Modi Ji. “It was good to see people of Kashmir supporting Modi Ji. I have captured the moments in my camera to cherish these all my life. I am going to upload these photographs on social networking sites which would send a good message about people of Kashmir,” Gopal Krishan said. BJP media incharge said that the party managed to attract crowd from the Modi’s rally from all the 8 Assembly segments of Srinagar city. “Number of supporters of BJP majority of them were from Hazratbal Constituency participated in the rally,” he said adding that BJP has become a force to reckon with in Kashmir. “I can’t believe this people in Kashmir attending a BJP rally in such a number. This rally is certainly going to give a boost to the image of the party in Kashmir,” another BJP leader said. However, not all the people present in the rally were BJP supporters. “I am not a BJP supporter but I have good relations with one of the candidates of the party and thus i obliged to his request and brought all my friends here,” said Nisar Ahmed from Noorabad. Meanwhile Chief Minister Omar Abdullah alleged that people were brought from Jammu for the Modi’s election rally in Srinagar. Taking to micro-blogging website Twitter, Omar said: “2 trainloads of supporters are being brought in from Banihal in Jammu. Why not just have the rally there?” Hitting at Sajad Lone who had earlier called Modi as his “elder brother”, Omar claimed that people from Kupwara, the former’s bastion, are being sent to attend the rally at Sher-i-Kashmir stadium. “So Sajad Lone is sending about 80 vehicles of supporters from Kupwara to help his big brother make up the numbers,” Omar tweeted. He also expressed surprise over what he said Congress’ support for the rally. “Amazingly even Congress supported leaders have been asked to contribute people to the BJP rally. Politics makes for strange bed fellows ,” wrote Omar. A common Kashmiri who was struggling to cross security check point near Abdullah Bridge told CNS that Kashmiri people are multifaceted who even don’t know what they are doing and where are they going.
