Poll: INEC Distributes 1.2m PVCs In Delta Ahead of the February general elections the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed 1, 260, 728 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) representing 63.03 per cent of the total figure distributed to eligible voters in Delta State as at 7 January, 2015, a statement from the commission said. From the available record from the commission, Delta State ranks sixth in terms of number of reregistered voters and 19th on percentage distribution of PVC in the country while in the south-south it ranks second after Rivers state. According to the records, Lagos State has the highest figure of registered voters of 4, 000, 000 (53.98 per cent distributed), Kano 3, 198, 859 (86.63 per cent distributed), Kaduna 3, 219, 994 (82.10 per cent distributed), Katsina 2, 379, 766 (82.61 per cent distributed), Rivers 1, 956, 983(64.02 per cent distributed) with Bayelsa having the least registered voters of 465, 902 (79.43 per cent distributed). It will be recalled that the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan had on Wednesday gave INEC a marching order to issue all registered Nigerians their permanent voters cards before election on February 14, 2015. Jonathan gave the order while swearing in the new commissioner representing Oyo at INEC, Professor Akinola Salau at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Pointer gathered that the issue of creation of additional polling units has tended to divide the country along ethnic divide of north south dichotomy until the Senate ordered that the issue be put on hold until after the election.
