Poll: New York voters back ban on fracking ALBANY – A new poll suggests that New Yorkers strongly back the Cuomo administration’s recent decision to ban hydraulic fracturing for natural gas. The Quinnipiac University survey found that 55 percent of respondents support the decision on fracking and 25 percent oppose it. Citing risks to health and the environment, regulators last week announced the state would prohibit the drilling technique. Support for the ban was highest upstate and in New York City and lowest in the suburbs. The survey also found wide support for raising the minimum wage and strong opposition to a legislative pay hike. Those are two issues expected to come up when lawmakers return to Albany in January. The poll of 1,293 registered voters was conducted Wednesday through Sunday. It has a margin of error of 2.7 percent. Source: wktv/ newsnyork/poll-new-york-voters-back-ban-on-fracking/
