Poll: when is the last time you went to a public library (other than to vote)? I recall getting into trouble my first year of law school for suggesting (to the librarians) that brick and mortar law libraries werent all that necessary given that everything (okay...most things) are now in online databases. Man did that set them off. But in almost 7 years of practice, Ive gone to a law library once...only to learn later that the obscure document I needed was actually online... Go figure. Im curious to hear what people think about the necessity of traditional libraries, who they are targeting to serve, and if those folks actually ever go. Even when driving by, the parking lots usually look pretty empty. Should we rethink public libraries?
