Ponty Cafe, Pontardawe. A completely unexpected breakfast, - TopicsExpress

Ponty Cafe, Pontardawe. A completely unexpected breakfast, although this establishment has been on my radar for some time. Decided to go for a morning swim with Harriet but discovered the toddler pool which is like hot bath water doesnt open until 11:30. With an hour to kill was a little lost as to what to do.... I had heard this place was very small and quite smokey from the cooking so was a little apprehensive about taking harriet in if it was rammed full of rag arsed builders. Luckily it was empty, and I ordered the standard breakfast (two of each item inc toast and choice of hash browns or crinkle cut chips and a tea or coffee) for grand sum of £3.50! The waitress offered me a second plate for harriet which was very kind as didnt know whether she could share etc. Inexplicably before the breakfast arrived my iPhone crashed and read no battery which I know wasnt correct. However wouldnt reboot so was left with a choice of eating a cold breakfast or not photographing it.... As it happened half way through the breakfast it rebooted which are the photos attached. Breakfas arrived promptly, toast was a little on the cold side and required buttering, but butter pots very spreadable. Bacon rashers nice, not too mch fat on them. The sausages were very processed although I dont mind that, but suppose could be marked down slightly for that. Eggs lovely with a decent runny yolk, and a good size to them. I have to say though it was te hash browns that stole the show. Sizeable scalene triangles with a delicious crispy exterior and the fri test hint of onion. If these were frozen jobbies Id like to know where they buy them. Yes the interior of the place is pretty damn poor and the kitchen area is tiny so god knows how they have such a large menu. However excellent value for money and will deffo return and add some extras like black pudding next time! (And not have to share it...)
