Pontypridd have secured the signing of experienced lock Alex Jones who joins up from Bridgend for the commencement of the 2014 - 2015 season. A proven ball winner and a leader on the field of play, Jones will be a major acquisition for Pontypridd in their quest for further domestic and cross border honours. Alex Jones came up through the ranks of his local club Maesteg before joining Newport in 2008, going on to represent the Dragons at regional level. He then spent two seasons with Bridgend, from whom he now links up with Pontypridd. Aged 28, measuring up at 6ft 6in and tipping the scales at 17st 8lbs Jones will provide a significant physical presence added to his vast experience, having worn the captains armband for both Newport and Bridgend. The recent void that was left in the Pontypridd second row following the early retirement of Lee Williams and the departure of Chris Dicomidis to Cardiff Blues will now be filled by the imposing figure of Alex Jones.
