Poor Bill Ackman... So theres this fella named Bill Ackman (a real Wesley Mouch from Atlas Shrugged type of guy) who actually thought he could take down a reputable, well established, well loved giant (Herbalife) with lies and manipulation. The arrogant Ackman placed a stock bet, a short (a rather large bet too btw) against the publicly traded company. With this short (stock market B.S.) he [his firm] stands to make a ridiculous amount of money if he can get the stock price to drop dramatically. So Ackman placed the bet then took his personal name and reputation (important to note that he is a multi-billionaire with a track record of successes behind him) on a smear campaign calling the company all kinds of names and offering false claims, even paying for victims to come out of the wood-works to tell their stories of how they were taken advantage of by said company and its fraudulent business model. He was betting on the ignorance of the masses, thinking he could get enough momentum behind him to gain enough negative press against Herbalife to at least have the stock market price plummet so he [his firm] could take home another big win. He actually accused the company of being an illegal pyramid scheme. Ha! He must think were still in the mid 70s. I guess the poor guy was just born too late for that one. That songs already been played and the truth has already come out. Amway went through all that mess back in the 70s. If youre my age, ask your parents about Amway. Chances are pretty good they STILL think Amyways some kind of illegal pyramid scheme. This is what Ackman was tying to play to. Side note: Yes, Amways still around today. Not only are they still around but last year they actually surpassed AVON to become the #1 largest Direct Sales company in the world. Theyve been #2 behind AVON for the longest. In fact, Amyways monthly sales exceed $1 Billion. Yea, thats with a B and monthly. 55 years later and Amways still going strong. A real testament to the sustainability of the MLM business model. Anyway, Ive been watching this ridiculous saga with Bill Ackman attacking Herbalife play out since it began in 2012 & even after all Ackmans done to try and smear the companys name and reputation and all the negative PR hes tried to muster, the companys stock price is actually UP!!! Side note: How about that for some more evidence of the resiliency of Direct Sales and MLM. Now all the pundits are even starting to turn on the guy. But with such a large fortune on the line, unfortunately for Ackman, I dont think he can just cry Uncle and give it up just yet either. Poor fella got a little too big for his britches & picked the wrong fight. I personally think its great how the whole thing is playing out. Herebalife, and the overall MLM business model, is shinning bright as ever and making this profession, that I love, proud. Kudos to all the Herbalife field reps out there! Youre doing yourself, your company and your profession proud! I salute you. -MSW bloomberg/video/ackman-fails-to-convince-herbalife-gains-bIYaQhaDSie7RIFQ6LttGQ.html
