#Poor_Customer_service #Waiters #Cafes #Cairo #Zamalek #Restaurants #Heliopolis So I go to a cafe with a friend .. and then we decide to stay in the outdoor area because the weather was lovely yesterday. After a while it got too chilly we decide to move to the indoor area of another near-by cafe, we entered only to find the indoor area even colder because of the AC. I and her had this internal discussion that we should change the place altogether since we both couldnt endure the temperature. We continued to discuss what we were originally discussing...only to find ourselves interrupted by the waiter who asked in a span of 15 seconds, for three consecutive times Shall I switch off the AC?, Shall I switch off the AC? .. Shall I Switch off the AC!? ..we were still talking..but he insisted on interrupting again and again annoyingly and entirely uncaring of our involvement in a discussion ... I completely lashed out and asked him; Are you not noticing that I and her are talking or are we invisible, did you notice that you are interrupting and that you are unable to wait until we finish our discussion to get your answer?!? We raced out of the place in utter displeasure and walked an extra short distance in the vicinity to one supposedly calm restaurant and decided to have our dessert there. We requested to have the music volume turned down to a reasonable level... it was too loud we could barely hear ourselves speak... ! In a short while the waiter showed up again to take our order...! One of us ordered Hot mint to fix her sore throat and then we politely asked him to come again in 1 minute until we decide what well order. A few minutes later, one of the waiters, angrily, showed up at our table and he decided to put a brutal end to our naivete, as he startled us by the following statement Hey, sorry, you ordered mint only but you have to know the difference between a cafe and a restaurant... this is not a cafe and you are obliged to order something to eat, I need to take your order now.. he actually said this... he had the audacity to enlighten us about the difference between restaurants and cafes... I, burning with fury - of course - my eyes widened in astonishment and my voice crescendoed due to his shocking behavior, I replied back Didnt we mention earlier that we are going to order desserts? Is there a deadline for ordering that we missed knowing upon entering the restaurant.. and is ordering hot mint disclosed to cafes only?!? And do you really think we do not know the difference between cafes and restaurants?! Well, It didnt stop here, my zero-tolerance-to-rudeness pushed my spill-the-beans-button, and I along with my friend gave him a piece of our mind. Well, now I have a few more points to mention... Why is the music too loud in every goddamn place we visit to socialize!? Why is it mostly Celine Dion, Bryan Adams and Lionel Richie on repeat in 80% of the places!? The planet has grew by almost 20 years since those singers hit the big time! Why do I feel the waiter is stalking my every action, speech, eye contact, and my eating habits?! Why isnt there any balance between the kind of waiter who totally ignores us and that who pops at the table every 5 minutes to ask if we needed something?! Why do they clean the floors while were sitting to talk?! Why is it always that when I need to request something from the waiter, I look around to find 3 to 4 waiters having a mind-consuming discussion on anything else but the work they have to finish?! Do not ask them for explanations on the recipes, they do not know the ingredients..! Die with your allergy if you have any! And yeah, this is how Egypt - and even some of the finest places, understand how to deal with customers... no discipline whatsoever.. very poor! Ill exclude some places from this status, but theyre only a handful. I was triggered to write this one because I was inspired by Tarek Amr s status https://facebook/tarekamr/posts/10152339938340944?stream_ref=10
