Pope Francis is welcome in China. That is the new message. On his recent trip to Seoul he said that he was willing to go to China tomorrow. He sent a letter of congratulations to Xi Jingping when they were s/elected within 3 days of each other in 2013 and Xi Jingping replied. Significant. Why shouldnt these two men get along? Both oversee 1 billion followers; have a Board composed of old white men with a penchant for red; and are trying to reduce corruption in their ranks. Pope Francis understands that remote control is out and local engagement is in. This is very wise. Just this week I asked a Chinese friend with a European boss how he filled out his new client reporting matrix to head office each month. He said that is simple, I just pick out names from the newspaper. Like companies, like churches, you have to pick your names together or one side will always be fooling the other. This Pope may be the first to get His book and the red book on the same page.
