Popular Grand National winner West Tip getting a heroes reception after his gutsy win in 1986. Tippy overcame injury problems during his career, the worst of which was being hit by a lorry outside his stables, he was said to have needed about 80 stitches in his hind quarters and been close to being put down but he survived. West Tip died in 2001 aged 24 after spending a happy retirement in the care of Becky Titterton at her familys dairy farm near Warwick. his owner Peter Luff died in September this year.
