[Popular Past #InternationalRealEstate Article] -> 9 Reasons Why Overseas Real Estate Agents Hate Me (And I’m Fine With It) Dear Reader, I touched down in Panama City Panama on March 15 2007 and blasting on my iPod was the Vinyl Shakers remix of “One Night in Bangkok”. It’s not the version you think it is. Don’t judge. Within the previous months I attended overseas real estate conferences in Montevideo Uruguay, Managua Nicaragua, and Panama City – but, Latin America wasn’t for me. Until then I had been to Thailand on 4 separate trips and my final time in January was for an extended stay with a buddy of mine to see if it was the place for me. I’m a big believer in that certain places speak to you – and others don’t. And, as my buddy and I blasted One Night in Bangkok, from our 20th floor flat at Centre Point hotel, smack dab in the heart of Bangkok – it was speaking to me like no other place I’d been. Life was good. I had purchased several pre-construction apartments, spread out over a few cities, in different countries, and was going to sell those and repeat the process over and over again in select destinations around the globe where I saw one of two things: A) Being in the path of progress (appreciation) whereby just getting in you were sitting pretty, would go up in value over time, and then could work hard selling on the back end. B) Active market with out of country owners (discounted sellers) whereby they bought overseas, didn’t have a good exit strategy, you buy it from them at a discount, and work hard selling it yourself on the back end. Up until that point I bought properties in Southern California, a couple in Buenos Aires, was buying in a few other select locations, and was comfortable with my own abilities as well as contacts I’d made at these overseas real estate conferences. I mean, whom better to network with than overseas real estate gurus who travel the World, look at hundreds of deals, invest in many themselves, and then pass along select investments that meet their strict investor guidelines to their paid newsletter subscribers? Awesome game plan – what could go wrong? The story gets better here ->
