Popular weight-loss diets have proven effective in the short term, but not in the long-term. Thats the conclusion of a new study published by the American Heart Association. Clinical trials on four popular diets -- the Atkins, South Beach, Zone and Weight Watchers -- show that dieters do lose weight, but often gain much of it back. None of the diets made a big difference in blood pressure, cholesterol or other cardiovascular risk factors. Researchers were unable to determine if any one of these diets was better than the others.
