Porcupine Quills: I rode the motorcycle into TC last night to join Emery, Liz, Laura, Andy McFarlane and others for dinner and fun. I left the party early at 11 PM to ride home. At one point an oncoming cars brights blinded me and the second they passed I had to swerve sharply to avoid a porcupine waddling in the road. I missed the porcupine but this morning was surprised to see that it got me. The photo shows about 50 quills stuck firmly in my foot peg. It must have gone into defense mode and hit me with its tail. Emery, Liz and I jumped in Lake Michigan this morning. Pretty dang cold but then we got plenty warm biking up Shauger Hill to the Dune lookout. You cant tell but thats a real steep section where Liz is pushing (and Emery had a fixy street bike that he had to push). We came back via Pierce Stocking Drive to the new Heritage Trail. What a great ride, and my mom joined us on the front porch after lunch.
