Port Richmond Second Saturdays was a great event for Port Richmond this year. However, do to some horrible handling, I will not participate in this event next year. Not only has some terrible actions come to light, but, unlike other vendors, I had to almost beg to get recognition for my Tarot card booth. I worked the River Ward festival circuit for many years & this was the absolute worst I was ever treated as a vendor. It was like I was some dirty secret. Events like this one will never work as long as people are not willing to work together in a mature, responsible & RESPECTFUL way. These COMMUNTIY events should involve those in the community. (Yeah. I live Bridesburg. Im from Fishtown. Port Richmond is the meat in my River Ward sandwich :) ) I was treated quite rudely at the last S.S. by a certain run-arounder. Her job was to help me out, instead she was just snotty. Never have I been treated this way. It is only coming to light now that other vendors & all-around helpful folks were being disrespected. I am sad to say that this was the last festival I was to participate in, as I have retired from the festival circuit altogether. Gonna spend more time with my son. My only peace of mind is that I know I will not take my son to a place were *I* was not respected. So sad. I hope things turn around over the holidays. I would like to see this not just be a giant advertisement for the shops there, but for a way for all of us River Warders & beyond to see all that Port Richmond has to offer. Including some wonderful people!
