This role slices, analyzes and summarizes findings with portfolio data. This data analysis ultimately feeds into what-if scenario portfolio planning, decisions and optimization.This position will initially be fulfilling an immediate need focusing on our resource management data: capacity, allocations set within the current portfolio as well as demand in the pipeline. Ultimately determining when projects can start based off of capacity and remaining availability--when resources will be completing work and free to startup more work. Also providing input with recommendations on project sequencing given portfolio and resource data analysis findings. The Portfolio Analyst is internal and external facing, supporting the integrity of our data captured in our portfolio tool through education and periodic audits. The ideal candidate will not only have excellent communications skills, but also have experience working in a technology based environment. They must have knowledge of portfolio and resource management practices, and project delivery lifecycles / methodologies and be able to interpret financial and resource metrics. CAs Clarity PPM experience is strongly desired.Essential Job Functions: o Provide analysis and reporting of portfolio data, as needed, to support overall portfolio management. Facilitate identification of bottlenecks and propose resolution strategies. Raise portfolio and/or resource issues and provide impact analysis of these issues to PMO manager and/or impacted PMO functional area(s).o Work with assigned managers to ensure that project portfolio data and forecasts are updated regularly based on latest needs and shifts in project priorities. o Ensure consistent and high quality portfolio and/or resource planning data across Technology department through periodic data audits. Provide initial and ongoing training for impacted data owners.o Resource Data Analysis and Management:o Perform resource analysis to determine when projects can start. Work with delivery team(s) on projects ready to be staffed and start the project delivery lifecycle.o Responsible for ensuring adherence to Technology resource management standards and proper use of resource management functionality and data capture in the PPM tool. Provide initial and ongoing training for resource and project managers. Ensure consistency and availability of resource data and manage their use for decision making.o Ensure a team resources are fully balanced in the Clarity PPM tool for rolling three month period, as well as review longer term under / over allocation to signal procurement, divesture (contractors), or reallocation of resources.o Allocated vs. Actual Performance by organization, role, resource, etc. Formulate, communicate and follow up on subsequent actions based upon analysis findings and recommendations.o Assist resource managers to ensure balanced workloads throughout the budget fiscal year - avoiding resource demand peaks and valleys.o Balance project needs against operational demands to ensure appropriate balance of the workforce. Work with assigned operational/support managers to ensure that resource demand is properly allocated in Clarity PPM.o Meet with functional team(s) on a regular basis to resolve system, process, and resource conflicts and ensure the data provided to the organization can be consistently utilized and interpreted.o Drive and sustain improvements in overall time sheet approval compliance. o Minimize the administrative efforts required to maintain Kroger portfolio and resource planning & management systems.o Ensure the portfolio and project tools support the PMO processes and needs of the organization.o Assist in developing training/supporting materials and deliver training to Resource Managers, Project Managers, and project teams; both formal and informal learning events.o Communicate and champion Portfolio and project processes throughout the enterprise; build consensus among sophisticated decision makers.o Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.Minimum Position Qualifications:o Minimum 2 years business functional experience working in a PMO setting supporting a portfolio data analysis function or in a resource planning role, preferably using Clarity PPM:o Project Management principles and methodologyo Resource Capacity Managemento Cost and Budget Planningo Time Trackingo Portfolio Managemento 3-5 years of relevant strong analytical experience. Proven ability to analyze large amount of raw data to identify trends within the data that could be used to define and drive strategies and segmentations. Proven ability to proactively identify opportunities based of his/her analytical insight.o Strong experience and extensive use of a PPM tool is required, with emphasis on understanding the features and functions for enterprise portfolio and/or resource management.
