Portion of this Sundays message: God will raise up for himself a people who will be as the Cedars of Lebanon. Psalm 104:16 The trees of the LORD are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted Cedar is one of the most aromatic and resistant types of wood known. The very name of the Cedar of Lebanon came to symbolize strength and magnificence. This wood was used for building the King’s palace and the Temple itself. The Cedar of Lebanon 1. Is Aromatic – We as believers are to be aromatic…the scent of life to those who seek after righteousness. 2. Burns very hot and fast due to the highly flammable resins in the wood. Like these trees, as we follow hard after God we can become highly flammable. 3. They were planted by the Lord. When we submit to God’s calling and follow where he leads we can stand with strength as trees planted by the Lord. We will go out with Joy and be led forth in peace. The mountains and the Hills shall rejoice with us. What mountain is in your way? What stronghold must come down? Trust in the Lord with all of your heart lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. He will cause rejoicing in the times of turmoil. He will plant you where you need to be. He will cause you to burn with a fire that is unquenchable. As this fire burns you will become the aroma of life to all of those searching for the truth. You will be as a voice crying in the wilderness saying, “This is the way of the Lord walk in it”. Isaiah 55:12-13 12 For you shall go out [from the spiritual exile caused by sin and evil into the homeland] with joy and be led forth [by your Leader, the Lord Himself, and His word] with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; and it shall be to the Lord for a name of renown, for an everlasting sign [of jubilant exaltation] and memorial [to His praise], which shall not be cut off. He will cause you to rise up and become as these trees, a fortress for the weak and weary where many will come in and find rest. Many will come and find hope for their weary soul. Lost will be found, blind will see, the lame will walk and the dead will rise. These are the promises of the past and God has not forgotten even on line of what He has spoken concerning us. He is preparing us for Victory and all His promises will come to pass. When we hear this we usually think of promises we think God has given us individually. We may also think of some of the promises God spoke over our congregation but the promises yet to come are not limited to what we remember God speaking and will not be limited to promises given during our generation. This includes promises spoken to the generations that have gone before us. I will once again place my anointing on my people to go forth with the voice of one crying in the wilderness. The voice of the evangelist shall be heard in the land. Saying, “Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand.” Some will say in their hearts that they are excluded from this plan since only some are called to be evangelists….only some have the gifting of the evangelist. The giftings that are described as being only for some are describing how the giftings are supposed to operate with in the body of Christ. Corinthians 12:7-11 you can see here that we are not talking about an office that we receive and are to hold for the rest of our life. These giftings are not meant to be a lifetime calling! They are the manifestation of what God is doing through us for the common good of the Body of Christ. Some are called to stand behind the pulpit and teach, others behind the pulpit are to preach and still others behind the pulpit do the work of an evangelist. Some days you will come to church and receive the manifestation of the gift of a word of wisdom and then the next time you come to church maybe the Holy Spirit will manifest Himself in you in a way that brings healing to another person. All of these gifts are given to edify the body. From the very beginning, before the church even came into existence I sent every one of my disciples, followers, and students out to do the work of an evangelist, not just some. Matthew 28: 18-20
