Portland Pearl Rotary Club: Tuesday Morning Program, July 22, 7:15 a.m. PROGRAM: Unplug and Reconnect: Nature-based STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) Education. SPEAKER: Emily Goodwin, Director, Cascade Mountain School. Speaker Host: Roger Devine Cascade Mountain School is a science-based outdoor education program for middle and high school students based out of the Columbia River Gorge near Hood River, Oregon and Trout Lake, Washington. The summer science school offers seven- to 14-day courses where the outdoors serve as the classroom for students as they learn about climate change, watershed science, sustainable agriculture and more. Cascade Mountain School is a project of the Mt. Adams Institute, a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the connection between people and the natural world. LOCATION: Ecotrust (second-floor conference room), 721 N.W. 9th Ave., Portland. Visiting Rotarians and guests welcome; $10 breakfast fee at the door. UP NEXT, July 29: Open Meadow.
