Portsmouth 1st Eleven v Trojans at St’ Helen’s The table topping 1st team had another comfortable victory against Trojans. A great start for Dave Henderson who has taken over the 1st team captaincy from James Scott as James gets his delicatessen up and running in Chichester. Trojans won the toss and elected to bat. A good line and length was the order of the day with the new ball seaming around. Jed( 3 for 35 off 10) made the initial break through followed by Vikram(3 for 31 off 9). The only resistance from Trojans came from Babidge (71) where the other batmen struggled to get into double figures. Farshan (2 for 26 off 9) and Tom and Jack picking up a wicket a piece got the remaining wickets which left Trojans 180 All out off 46 overs. Our innings started off in a similar fashion with the new ball seaming around Jamie and Matt went early both caught. This bought Liam and Dave to the crease, these two looked set and took the total to 61 at the drinks break. Liam went for 31 immediately after the break and was replaced by Farshan. Dave was producing a true captain’s innings anchoring one end while Farshan batted at a run a ball at the other. Farshan went for 39 with the score on 120 and was replaced by Jack, Dave passed his 50 ending up on 62 not out and Jack made 23 not out for use to win with 6 wickets intact and 10 overs remaining. This week we face South Wilts away for a top of the table clash. Good luck to the lads.
