Portugal boss Paulo Bento has insisted that the Seleccao do not - TopicsExpress

Portugal boss Paulo Bento has insisted that the Seleccao do not simply depend on Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the second leg of their World Cup qualification play-off against Sweden in Solna. The Real Madrid star scored the only goal of the game in the first leg in Lisbon on Friday, but Bento has stressed they are ready to take advantage if the Swedes were to focus their efforts solely on Ronaldo in Tuesdays encounter. I think Sweden will try to stop us as a team and try to block Cristiano Ronaldo, Bento said at a press conference. What we will try to do is attack well and not only count on Ronaldo. If there is special marking on Ronaldo that maybe gives us the chance to find opportunities for other players from other areas of the pitch. Earlier this week, Sebastian Larsson claimed referee Howard Webb would have to be on guard from play-acting from Ronaldo in Tuesdays encounter, but Bento has hit back by stating that Sweden were guilty of the same offence in Lisbon. I dont believe referee Howard Webb wont see a situation like with [Johan] Elmander in the Portuguese penalty area and a pretend foul that he tried to invent in the first leg - he dived, he added.
