Position: NEW PRODUCT & TECHNOLOGY STRATEGIST Location: FRAMINGHAM & WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS JOB SUMMARY You will research emerging technologies, market trends and user needs to drive recommendations for new business categories to be invested in by the company. You will become the expert on various new technologies, new markets, competitive threats, and opportunities – developing compelling whitepapers and briefs as output. You are able to ply a combination of market data, consumer data, in-depth analysis and synthesis, and your own good instincts to make solid recommendations to stakeholders. You will also participate in the development of category strategy and drive long-range product plans for entire new product categories. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues in product marketing, market and consumer research, and engineering advanced development to discover unmet customer needs, incubate new business opportunities and prototype new product concepts. You will help to lead our efforts to identify and cultivate the intersection of business opportunity, new technologies and customer needs, helping drive what the division does next. NEW PRODUCT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Articulate and champion new categories and directions. Synthesize consumer, business and technology insights, crafting new product visions and planning product roadmaps. Assess emerging external technologies & competitors to determine potential impact. Develop strong relationships with Research, Advanced Development and Consumer and Market Research and Analytics groups to identify opportunities for our technologies to be brought forth into new products. Develop relationships with outside companies that may benefit our business. Work with Product Development to build new products. Work with worldwide Sales teams to develop the plan to launch new products into the market. BOTTOM LINE: SKILL AND REQUIREMENTS: * Affinity for emerging technology, market trends, and new gadgets * Information junkie that thrives on being the first to know about new technology * Highly polished writing ability, strong presentation and verbal communication skills. * Extremely strong critical thinking skills for framing, analyzing, and synthesizing complex problems (market trends, technology trends, business disruptions, etc.) * Comfort and proficiency managing the early-stage ambiguity and risk that accompanies work at the “fuzzy front end” of new products and businesses. * Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within Marketing, Engineering, and Research. * Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions * A background in engineering or science, acoustics, video, software, and/or consumer electronics is preferred. * Experience in product management is a plus. * Occasional travel (10-15% of time – mainly domestic, some international) * Education / Experience: Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline – Engineering or Science and 4+ years of related experience. Advanced degree (MS / MBA) a plus.
