Position Statement It is the position of WSWS, that we do not - TopicsExpress

Position Statement It is the position of WSWS, that we do not condone the breeding or selling of Wolves, Wolf dogs or other wild Canids for profit or other reasons. We also understand that we as an organization cannot stop such activity. We believe that humans have a moral and ethical obligation to all species to be caretakers of all animals wild and domestic. Wild Spirit has no legal say in the breeding, selling or buying of wolves or wolf dogs and other wild Canids, that is up to each state and county laws and regulations. Wild Spirit can, and will, only condone the ethical, moral and responsible ownership of all animals…not just wolves and wolf dogs! Unfortunately when we speak of the ethical, moral and responsible ownership of animals, that is completely subjective to the animal owner and wild Spirit has no say on what that is. However, we can and do recommend methods of containment and care and will gladly provide that information to prospective rescuers or people that want to help their animal have a higher quality of life… We realize that all we can do as an organization is be there to save animals created by a selfish industry of exotic animal breeders. Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary is funded by people that see every day the animals that are victims of human, ego, desires and whims and forced into circumstances that are beyond their control. Like us, our supporters question the ethicacy of the involvement of an activity that creates a byproduct that is often unwanted, discarded, destroyed or housed at rescues and Sanctuaries when there are millions of canines in general that are in need of loving environments. It makes no sense to us why humans are willing to engage in activities that create so much obvious waste, especially when they are living beings! Lastly Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary does in no way support breed specific legislation ever! We live in such a litigious society today that to make new laws regarding pet ownership seems to be a violation of our rights and a waste of time. Our hope and desire is that human beings see the moral and ethical side of breeding any animal for any reason wild or domestic and the ultimate end result…the need for sanctuary.
