Position Title: HEALTHCARE INTERPRETER (SPANISH) Exam Number: Y1153E hr.lacounty.gov Salary Minimum: 3420.10 to Salary Maximum: 3678.18 Position/Program Information: Provides a full range of interpretation/translation services for patients, physicians, nurses and other health professionals in one or more foreign languages. Essential Job Functions: Provides interpretation service in person, by telephone, or other remote technology to non-English and limited-English speaking patients and their families in various healthcare settings; provides language interpretation to patients and families during all aspects of the healthcare encounter; interprets/translates accurately and completely, informs the healthcare provider if the content to be translated might be perceived as culturally offensive, insensitive or otherwise harmful to the dignity and well-being of the patient; assesses patients understanding of information conveyed; translates a variety of patient-related documents and forms including correspondence, medical procedures and instructions, medical consent forms, and other patient-related documents as necessary; maintains interpretation/translation records and files including daily computer entry of statistical data collection of work related information; performs other related record maintenance tasks; and attends in-service and mandatory training. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must meet all of the following requirements: 1) Completion of a *recognized Healthcare/Medical Interpreter Training Certification Program. 2) Six (6) months of experience in interpreting and translating in Spanish within a healthcare setting. 3) Proficiency Certificate for the Spanish Language issued by an approved agency**.
