Possible insight or reccommendations Inbox x Katie Day daykatie2001@gmail 4/17/11 to ann, bcc: Missy Hi Ann, First, I want to thank you for your courageous and hard work in putting together The Girls Who Went Away. I picked up a copy of it about 3 years ago. Ive only read the whole thing from start to finish one time, because I found it to be so haunting. I have reccommended it to serveral individuals and have gone back to it to re-read certain sections and stories... but, have been unable to sit down for another full reading. It was both a moving and horrifying piece of literature. Well done. Anyway, I am writing you to seek your expertise on the matter. I am not a birth mom or birth daughter, but rather a birth sister. I realize you are probably very busy so I will spare you the details, but it has definitely been an interesting four year journey in finally locating and contacting the child my mom gave up for adoption 41 years ago (before meeting my father and having myself and two other siblings). At the moment, my mom is comfortable with the reunified sister and I establishing a relationship, but is still uninterested in ever meeting her daughter. Im just curious as to what literature or support forums or networks are out there to help navigate these situations in a healthy and beneficial way for everyone. Ive been shooting from the hip since we established contact in mid-February. Any guidance or resources you could pass along would be much appreciated! Thank you for literary contribution and any time spent in reading this email.
