Possible jam with some old mates. One guy wants to play this great old Van Halen tune. Once you master (or re-master) the tricky intro riff, not a very complicated song. Its just the drop tuning, the dynamics/harmonics part of the song (if not using drop tuning), and whammy bar thing that pose a barrier for me because I dont like to leave standard tuning, Im not a whammy bar guy and my technical style is much closer to Vandenburg than Van Halen. Still want to play this tune. So there are ways around it all even though I can simply already play Aint Talkin Bout Love in A flat without tuning down (but I wont have the open G chord and the coda has a part where the open E is definitely needed). Play the song in standard A...or have the other guy play the Eddie parts in drop tuning. Hmm. Oh well, time to see what other tunes on the list use standard tuning on this glorious long weekend.
