Post Independence consolidation Being under colonial rule for around 200 years--> wholly new situation after the independence--> question arised what to do and how to do? Also there were many consequences of paritition. Also, too many princely states. Challenges 1. Nation building- how to do this? 2. Democracy- how to achieve it? While many countries didnt of for it and left it for the later, india accepted the challenge. 3. Integration of princely states. 4. Development of disadvantaged and poor section of society. So slowly slowly, india proceeded. First PC- how to do development as decided india to be a planned economy. Then though to have friendship with neighbours and resulted into panchsheel and NAM. Socialism decided at avadhi Then five year plans- food shortage so Agriculture on agenda. Then debate over agri vs industry. In 2nd five year plan- industry for economic development.
