While not everyone is able to keep their dog, the responsible and kind-hearted people will make an effort to place their family member in a more suitable home, whether it be reaching out to rescue, friends, or the animal community. This is why rescue exists. Many Shibas are needlessly dumped in shelters when they could have come directly into rescue without the stress and trauma of shelters (or worse).
