Post by: Esther Anderson Just came across your site: I worked there for 2 years with the sea lions and dolphins and as a parrot trainer. I was the only one not bitten by the seal lions. Cecilia was a rotter and bit everyone. We had 3 dolphins, Sally, her son Demon and Freckles. We had about 20 parrots, all sulphur crested bar one. That was Sox the galah, and he got into mischief. We always had a laugh when some of the foreign tourists would set up their picnic blanket in the middle of the lion enclosure. There was one guy - we called him Maggot because he had driven the tractor into the slops pond which was disgusting. The guys/guards would play tricks on each other and hide bits of horse meat under the vehicle so the lions would tail them when they were on guard duty. We had many celebrities come and visit. Simon Townsends Wonder World was out every few months. Ernest Borgnine, Jeannie Little, Jim Nabours. It was a toss up wether they came to us or Featherdale wildlife park. We truly had some fun times there. Pay wasnt much but then we went for the animals. I went on to become a vet nurse and then a career change. I wonder where everyone is now? It certainly provided jobs for the locals. agh sweet memories. I will dig out some pics and post for you.
