Post-elections in 1963, witnesses gathered for the swearing in of Singapores State Government at City Hall on 19 October. Head of state Yang di-Pertuan Negara Yusof bin Ishak officiated while Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew took oath of office, followed by other members of the cabinet and parliamentary secretaries. Among them were Deputy Prime Minister Dr Toh Chin Chye, Minister for National Development Lim Kim San, Minister for Labour Jek Yeun Thong, Minister for Home Affairs and Social Welfare Othman Wok and Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Rahim Ishak. Shortly after, key leaders headed to Kuala Lumpur for the opening of Singapores new official residence in the federal capital Rumah Temasek. PM and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew welcomed members of the Malaysian cabinet and other members of the federal government to the new residence. A series of cultural performances by Singapore artistes followed. The newsreel ends with the opening of the new Parliament House in Kuala Lumpur, which was attended by Singapore and Malaysian Ministers.
