Post movies like Mrityudand,Apharan,Aarakshan and Rajneeti, expectations from a director of Prakash Jha caliber was huge but SATYAGRAH a political thriller fails and fails badly.Dwarka Anand (Amitabh Bachchan) is a retired teacher and an idealistic man. His engineer son Akhilesh is killed in an accident after a flyover under his supervision collapses. Minister Balram Singh ( Manoj Bajpai) declares a death compensation of 25 lacs. Sumitra (Amrita Rao) is harassed by the govt officials for the compensation amount and consequently Mr. Dwarka Anand slaps the face of DM and is arrested.Manav Raghvendra (Ajay Devgan) a capitalist who believes in getting what he wants is a friend of Akhilesh and treats Dwarka Anand as father. He comes to the rescue and in this process he starts a revolution in which Dwarka Anand , his student Arjun (Arjun Rampal) and hard headed reporter Yasmin Ahmed (Kareena Kapoor Khan) join the cause to fight against corruption with non violence but the other way happens.Director Prakash Jha did not do his homework properly. The script lacks. There was a clear lack of story. Great actors do not make a good movie. I would not blame the actors since poor direction has made acting look below average.Music by Salim Suleman is good as they have tried a fusion of classical and rock.Overall not a movie that will make your weekend. Not a paisa wasool kinda.
