Post number 8 of 10 in my #TruthBeTold series. Last night I had the absolute HONOUR of meeting the Public Protector Thuli Madonsela & inspirational daughter of Desmond Tutu; Mpho Tutu, sitting at a dinner table as 1 of 12 specially hand picked women sharing a meal & discussing topics around current affairs in South Africa. Soaking up their radiance, warmth, laughter, stories & general presence. Here are 5 main things that resonated deeply. 1.) Hurts buried alive never die 2.) We are all born with backpacks on our backs. Some lighter than others. Whats in yours? 3.) People are homosocial. They gravitate towards what they know if they are not forced to choose differently. 4.) Law can not and is not meant to replace morality. 5.) On the topic of why girls grow into women lacking in confidence & boys grow into self-assured men: Theres a saying that goes Women raise their daughters & love their sons An amazing evening. I still cant believe I met the Public Protector. Is this my life? We joked about taking selfies... And then actually went ahead & did it for fun. The role of women in society and in the moulding of girls & boys into confident women & men is so important. The feminine quality of nurturing is a key ingredient in encouraging a healthier South Africa. Im slowly beginning to understand the real world importance of feminism in a patriarchal world. If you dont think that feminism is important. See link below...
