Post op day 13 ~ We had another good day today. She was breathing on her own using CPAP mode while on the vent and off sedation for 4 hours this morning. It wore her out quite a bit. The doctors feel we should try shorter wean periods twice per day rather than one long period. She has been pretty much asleep the rest of the day. She is still very weak and very sick. The doctors think it will be a few more days until she is ready to wean off the ventilator. She will need to have much longer periods off the vent with longer stable periods before the vent can come out. We have been playing soft Christmas Cds when she is awake. We are heading in the right direction but we still have quite a long road in front of us.
